WET WEATHER It is important to understand that matches are only cancelled when fields are unplayable — not just because it is raining.
Heavy rain on the previous days may have made fields unplayable, whereas heavy rain on the match day may allow the match to go ahead. The decision to close fields is taken by the host club and is then advised to Football Brisbane.
Wet weather updates regarding field closures will start to be become available by 7:30 am on day of competition and will be updated on the Football Brisbane website progressively on the day of the match.
Occasionally, a decision may be made to cancel matches on the day/night prior; however in the majority of cases, the decision will not be made until early on the morning of competition. Occasionally a referee may rule “no play” after a ground has been inspected immediately prior to the match start time.
Closure of the New Farm fields on competition day will be advised through the Football Brisbane website.
